Hi! We’re Jason & Megan. We’re also River City 3D Prints—our small, family-run shop building custom 3D printed items that are meant to be used, enjoyed, and occasionally talked about (by us usually) more than you might want to hear… sorry in advance.
This blog—Making It with River City 3D Prints—is where we share what we’re building, what we’re learning, and what life looks like while running a small business with five kids in the mix.
Sometimes that means new products we’re excited about, like our new Mahjong set. Sometimes it’s a vendor event that went better (fingers crossed) than expected—we’re looking at you, Charleston Dogwood-Azalea Fest. Sometimes it’s a customer idea that turned into something we didn’t see coming. And sometimes it’s just the honest reality of trying to make good things consistently while also just trying to make life work.
We care about what we make—not just in the “finished product” sense, but in how it gets used: by families, teachers, kids, hobbyists, and anyone looking for something a little more thoughtful than mass-produced products.
One of the areas we’ve been especially focused on is early literacy and storytime tools—like our read-along playsets designed to support book series such as The Old Lady Who Swallowed a… series. These kinds of projects are a good example of what we aim for: simple ideas, made well, with real use in mind for libraries, classrooms, and home reading time.
This isn’t a polished corporate journal, and it’s not a behind-the-scenes documentary either. It’s just our work, our experiments, and our progress—shared as we go.
If you’re here because you’re looking for something useful, interesting, or just a little different, you’re in the right place.
Life is a puzzle. We’re making it—one piece at a time.
